Two Atlanta attorneys have teamed up to establish a new boutique health law firm.
Laurice Rutledge Lambert and Jennifer Whitton announced on April 2 the debut of Aligned Health Law LLC. Lambert will serve as CEO and Whitton will be managing partner.
The firm, which boasts a team of 13 attorneys and paralegals, will be national in scope with Fortune 500 clients in addition to some startups, according to the announcement.
“Health care is at a crossroads, and its leaders need legal advisors who truly understand their business, challenges and ambitions,” Lambert said in a statement. “We are building AHL to serve as more than just legal counsel — we are strategic thought partners and problem solvers who are willing to take a reasoned risk-forward approach, working in sync with our clients to drive meaningful progress and mutual success.”
The legal industry is ripe for disruption, according to Lambert.
"The old model of increasing billable rates every year and burning out attorneys is not working and is certainly not sustainable," Lambert said in a LinkedIn post.
Until 2021, Lambert represented hospitals, integrated delivery networks, specialty pharmacy management providers, telehealth providers and more as a partner at one of the country's largest law firms, BakerHostetler. She then served as general counsel and chief compliance officer Trellis Rx (now part of CPS Solutions) until striking out on her own in 2022.
Whitton was also a partner at BakerHostetler before transitioning to Atlanta-based Krevolin & Horst LLC.
Aligned Health Law will provide counsel on a variety of health care issues, per the announcement, including data security, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance.
