John M. Jacobs is a seasoned attorney based near Philadelphia with over 25 years of experience providing legal guidance in complex legal and technology environments. His practice focuses on advising clients on commercial transactions, intellectual property, and digital health law. He has extensive experience with “as a Service” offerings, machine learning, and generative AI. John serves as a strategic thought partner for a wide range of healthcare clients, including payors, providers, digital health companies, and emerging growth healthcare organizations.

John has significant in-house experience, most recently as Associate Chief Counsel at Cigna, a global healthcare payor and provider. At Cigna, he led a high-performing team managing procurement, technology, and intellectual property matters. He played a critical role in providing legal support for major procurement transactions and was instrumental in mergers and acquisitions valued at over $15 billion. His contributions included establishing an industry-leading patent program and advising on digital health and AI-related issues involving early-stage, venture capital-funded innovators.

Previously, John served as in-house counsel for technology companies offering market-leading solutions to a broad range of technology-enabled customers, including disaster recovery, IT-managed services, and outsourced IT support services.

His unique combination of legal expertise and a technical background as a former IT project manager and programmer allows him to provide insightful, strategic counsel on technology-driven legal matters.
